Henry Adlard

Henry Adlard flourished as an artist and a brilliant soft ground etcher, but he is best known for his engravings onto steel. He worked in London in the nineteenth century. Little is known about his life, but his engravings often depict architectural scenes; including monuments, castles and cloisters, and sporting subjects, typified by his two famous cricketing subjects, The Batsman and The Bowler.
