Cates

Cates grew up in Maine, in what she describes as a "very privileged environment". The cosseted youngest child of a large family, she attended prestigious schools and holidayed not only on the East Coast but also across Europe. She attributes her love of travel today to the exciting family holidays she enjoyed with her brothers and sisters back in the 1980s. Cates holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree and, having initially specialised in textile design, now divides her time between commercial work for advertising agencies and galleries and her own personal commissions, which she exhibits roughly every 18 months at galleries in and around New England. Recently married to an Italian, Cates divides her time between America and southern Europe.
