< back Oliver Clare
Born in 1853, Oliver Clare was a painter of fruit and flower still-life scenes. He came from a prolific Birmingham-based family of artists, and his brother George painted similar subjects. They both were part of a group of artists who were much influenced by William Henry Hunt.
He only exhibited one painting at the Royal Academy, but at the Royal Society of Birmingham Artists he exhibited no less than thirty-nine paintings as well as three at the Walker Art Gallery in Liverpool, six at the Manchester City Art Gallery and two at Suffolk Street.
He died in 1927.
