Raoul De Longpre

Raoul de Longpre was born in Lyon, in France, in 1859, which was at the time the centre of the French textile industry. He came from a family of artists and was the younger brother of the noted painter Paul de Longpre, who also made a name for himself as a painter of florals subsequent to his emigration to the United States in the 1890s. Like Paul, Raoul de Longpre was a renowned and successful painter of florals and still lifes, usually working in oils on paper. Raoul de Longpre died in 1911.
