Hal Hurst was born in 1865 in London. He was both a watercolorist and miniaturist, with an aptitude for both. Hurst joined the Society of British Artists, the Royal Institute of Watercolorists and the Royal Society of Miniaturists. He took part in the Exposition Universalle in Paris in 1900.
