Jaci Hogan

Jaci Hogan was born in Queensland, Australia, and brought up on the beach there! She moved to Tasmania at the age of 7 before returning the Queensland with her family nine years later. Her early enthusiasm for art was nurtured by an inspiring teacher in Tasmania and by her own mother, who was always keen to emphasise that her children could be anything they wanted to be. Her artistic skills are entirely self-taught and she describes her artwork now as `modern but not too complex; a continual study of form and shape`. Jaci Hogan does not generally plan her paintings in advance and prefers them to evolve in their own way. She draws straight onto canvas and begins the painting work as soon as she can. She uses a lot of watercolour techniques at the start of the process, building up from this base in layers. Her paintings are now exhibited regularly in the United Kingdom and are shown at a number of horticultural events, including the Chelsea Flower Show and Hampton Court Flower Show, as well as in galleries around the country. However, nothing for her can match the excitement of winning a moneybox in an Easter Bunny painting competition when she was 7 years old!
