< back Bernard Longet
Bernard Longet was born in April 1943 at Cerizay, Deux-Sevres, France.
Originally he was a graphic illustrator and designer for some of the biggest Public Relations agencies in Paris, where he created visuals for several prestigious perfume lines. However, he decided to leave Paris to explore other creative areas including pottery and ceramics, then progressed to painting, where he acquired his basic knowledge and experience at the Atelier Charpentier in Paris.
Now located in the South of France, it is on the Cote d'Azur that he became interested in the effects of light which are peculiarly notable in this region. As a result of his interest he also undertook a study of the specific artistic materials which would carry the light of the south into his work.
Since 2004 though, Bernard Longet has concentrated his focus on the Grande Cuisine of France, and on `The Art of the Table`. His paintings depict celebrity chefs in action, expressive gourmets, laid tables etc., and his work both communicates to the viewer the pleasures of good eating and is enchanting to the eye.
