Little is known of this artist, who was born in Gand in Belgium in 1846. His paintings were Impressionistic in style and feature mainly figurative studies in romantic settings. Maeterlinck was also an art historian and during his lifetime he became the director of the Musee de Gand. He died in his home town in 1926.
