< back Mick Rock
World renowned wine photographer, Mick Rock, was born and brought up in Essex.
In 1960, at the age of 7, he bought a Kodak Brownie camera. This purchase inspired him to begin his enormously successful photographic career.
He was entirely self-taught, but has always received great encouragement from his wife and now concentrates almost entirely on photographic representations of wine and liqueur-related subjects. He has won several awards, including `Le Prix du Champagne Lanson ‘Ivory Label' Award` in 1997. He has also contributed works to many exhibitions, and is a principal supplier of images to Vinopolis, the new wine museum in London.
Mick Rock's work is now seen in wine magazines, brochures and promotional material around the world. He focuses both on wine-related subjects and on photographs of the great wine estates around the world.
Mick Rock sites `sweat and patience` as the methods which have brought him success in his artistic career. Away from the camera, his hobbies include food and wine, cycling and skiing.
