Roy Simpson

The artist and illustrator Roy Simpson was born in 1951 and brought up in the Potteries, in England. As a child he was inspired to start drawing and sketching by his enjoyment of the comic book illustrations of his time and this eventually led to him earning a Diploma in Painting and an MA in Ceramics. As a professional artist, he now describes the style of his work as `imaginative realism` and he works in a number of different commercial artistic fields, calling himself `an all-rounder`. He draws, paints and sculpts and, away from the easel, his principal hobby is walking; he walks at least 50 or 60 miles every week.
