< back Tamsin Stevens
A dog breeder by trade, Tamsin Stevens never considered the possibility of a career in the art world but was `discovered` by what she describes as `a remarkable coincidence`.
All the parents in the class of her young daughter at school were asked to provide a picture of their child for a charity brochure being produced to raise money for a school minibus. The resulting brochure was circulated amongst local businesses where one of the recipients spotted Tamsin Stevens's talent and passed the brochure on to a friend working in the art publishing trade.
From this small and very unusual beginning, a series of prints were commissioned which subsequently proved to be enormously popular. Tamsin Stevens's fresh and colourful style is entirely in keeping with the spirit of her times and, painting only when she can find the time to escape from her young family, she describes her work as both a pleasure and a release.
Away from her artistic endeavours, Tamsin Stevens also enjoys running, skating and go-karting, where `intimations of my own mortality` have only just persuaded her to give up her monthly trip around the karting tracks of southern England.
