Alfred Vickers, an English landscape painter, was born in Newington, Surrey on September 10th, 1786. He was self-taught and studied much from nature and from the works of the Dutch masters. Between 1814-1868 he exhibited at the Royal Academy, the British Institute and Suffolk Street.
