Artist Biography:

Charles de Wolf Brownell was an American painter of landscapes during the 19th and early 20th centuries. He was born in 1822 and served as a barrister in Connecticut for ten years. However after a serious illness, he decided to pursue a less-stressful career as a painter. Brownell moved to New York, but the Artist’s work reflects the experiences of numerous journeys to the Caribbean, Cuba, Mexico, Jamaica, Venezuela and Chile. Brownell died in Bristol, Rhode Island in 1909.
