Tretchikoff's work consisted mostly of portraits, still life, animals, or exotic flowers, however he was most known for the portraits he painted of women from the South Pacific. ‘Miss Wong’ is one of Tretchikoff's best known paintings. The subject is a beautiful Chinese girl who is looking directly at the viewer with vivid red lips and she has a sultry, poised expression. Her oriental silks are delicate but colourful and bold in bright pink and green which stand out against the plain brown background. The original was painted in the East which is a part of the world that has always had a strong influence over Tretchikoff's work. As the most successful commercial artist of his era, this and other Tretchikoff prints, adorned many houses during the 1950's and 1960's and have even become icons of the Twentieth century.
