Monet spent part of 1882 in the small seaside resort of Pourville-sur-Mer, which is near Dieppe in Northern France and produced an interesting body of work on this small seaside resort. Monet was not the only talented painter in this period who enjoyed this popular resort. The Village is surrounded by cliffs and has a beach of pebble and sand overlooking the English Channel and it is set in the heart of the Normandy countryside. It later became very popular with the Parisienne art world, thanks to the presence of a casino and luxury hotels.
